Watch for hidden costs:
Some DJ's will throw in a SOCAN charge, even though they don't pay
it, its actually up to the venue to pay the SOCAN fee.
Some DJ's sneak a 'per person' fee into their contract. Its usually
small, .50 cents to one dollar, but considering the amount of guests
you're expecting it adds up.
The DJ should also not charge PST.
There should be no 'set up' or 'tear down' fees.
Some DJ's put food and beverages into the contract, at your expense.
We're happy to say Big Sound has no hidden costs, We stick with the
quote on the contract.
What to ask your DJ:
Ask the DJ about the music. If you have specific songs in mind,
a first dance for example, ensure the DJ has everything you want.
Ask to take a look at the contract before making a decision.Your
DJ should have nothing to hide.
Ask to see references or testimonials, (feel free to check out our
reference page).
If the DJ uses a lap top, ask if they bring back up equipment, and
have it ready to go, many laptops can't handle DJ software, and
when they crash, it can take several minutes to reboot.
Ask how much experience your DJ will have. Many companies hire part
time students with out much musical knowledge.
Is the DJ insured? Ask about liability.
Do they have a business license?
Will the DJ be suitably dressed for the occasion?
Will they meet with you before the event? and do they charge you
for that meeting?
If you're not satisfied with the answers
you get to the above questions, call Big Sound!
